Husband and wife duo, Chris and Joan Farrell of Sandy Bottom Acres have got you covered for all the fresh, ethically raised beef, pork, chicken, and eggs you need. From Allen’s Fresh, Maryland, the couple was inspired to start Sandy Bottom Acres two years ago after helping their two young sons raise animals for 4-H.
Now that their boys are grown and out of the house, the couple has decided to put 400 acres at their family farm to raise pigs, cattle, chicken and sheep. Together, the couple manages about 350 hens, 20 cows and 40 pigs to bring the DMV area some of the freshest meat on the market.
Joan takes pride in allowing her customers to “know where their meat comes from,” and both she and Chris dole out their popular steaks and sausages with a smile. Chris and Joan rise early every Saturday morning to drive to DC from their Southern Maryland home. They bring us all their best stock at the Southwest Community Market from 10 AM – 2 PM. If you’re outside of DC, they also appear at the market in Fairlington on Sundays. They loving making recommendations for your household needs, so don’t miss out!
