DOL Organic Garden at Blind Whino

Dreaming Out Loud’s Organic Garden is set against the brilliant backdrop of Blind Whino’s colors. While we call it a garden, it operates like a community-managed, micro-farm. Together, we work with community members to grow healthy food. We host volunteers weekly that work with DOL staff to maintain the garden upkeep, manage the compost program, and assist with produce harvesting. We have hosted volunteers from partner organizations, corporate community service events, and local student organizations.

The garden also provides produce for local small box grocery stores and CSAs that serve the area. This social enterprise model allows DOL to earn income from the produce grown and also helps to put locally-grown food back into the hands of marginalized communities in the district.

Volunteer Open Hours: Tuesdays, 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 10:00 – 1:00 p.m. Volunteers can RSVP at our Eventbrite registration page or through our partner: ChipN.
