Minnesota Ave. Farmers Market

3924 Minnesota Avenue NE
Dates: Wednesdays 6/1 – 11/16, 2016
Hours of Operation: 3pm – 6pm

Located at the Unity Healthcare Clinic, the Minnesota Avenue Farmers Market is at the heart of Ward 7’s bustling Benning Road-Minnesota Avenue. It supports the patients participating in the Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program, an initiative launched in DC as a collaboration between Wholesome Wave, DC Greens, the District Department of Health, and Unity Healthcare. Doctors at the clinic write “prescriptions” that participants can redeem for fruits and vegetables at local farmers markets. We make it easy by setting up a farmers market outside the clinic on Minnesota Avenue, providing access to fresh, healthy produce for patients and the community.

Produce Plus Program

Across the city, the Produce Plus Program is helping District residents access fresh, locally grown fruit and vegetables. Through the program, recipients of many federal assistance programs can receive $10 per household per market per week to spend on fresh fruit and vegetables at farmers’ markets across the region. You can help us with Produce Plus through the Farmers Market Brigade, a developing network of folks trained to assist farmers markets managed by DC Greens. Follow this link to signup if this sounds like something you’d like to do — make sure to select Dreaming Out Loud’s markets for your volunteer site.
