Gifts of Stock
Should you have an interest in making a major gift through donation of your stocks, then donating securities may be a tax-efficient way of supporting Dreaming Out Loud. For instance, if you make the decision to sell your securities, you would have to pay capital gains tax on your investment. However, by donating your securities to Dreaming Out Loud, you stand the chance of avoiding capital gains tax, and taking a full income tax deduction based on your stock’s current market value on the date of transfer.
Dreaming Out Loud accepts donations of stock via DTC electronic transfer. Please provide your broker with the following account information:

Please inform our Development Department when you are making a transfer, that way, we can locate the shares and issue an acknowledgement receipt directly to you or through your broker. Your name, contact information, e-mail address, stock name, and number of shares will be required in order to acknowledge your gift.
Planned Gifts
You can leave a lasting impact and create a better future for members of the marginalized communities we serve by making a planned gift today. A charitable bequest is the most popular type of planned gift. In the process of creating or updating your will, you can opt to designate a specific amount, a percentage, or the remainder of your estate to Dreaming Out Loud.
We suggest using the following language:
I hereby bequeath to the Dreaming Out Loud (EIN 26-1286043), a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization,
with its principal office at 80 M Street, SE c/o WeWork, Washington, DC 20003, the sum of $_____, or ___% of my estate, or the remainder or residuary of my estate, for its general purposes.
If you wish to restrict your bequest to a specific program, please contact our Development Department before finalizing your will. This will help us to fulfill your charitable wishes and intent effectively.
Planned gifts can also include gifts of insurance, retirement accounts, and trusts. Since each of these come with their own tax incentives, kindly contact your attorney or tax advisor for more information.
Once you notify us that you included Dreaming Out Loud in your will or other estate plans, you’ll be invited to join The Big Dreamers Society, a giving club that recognizes the generosity of those who have made planned gifts to Dreaming Out Loud. As a member of The Big Dreamers Society, you’ll receive periodic organizational updates, invitations to special events, and your name listed as a member of the society, unless you request otherwise.
